Roomstyler Lesson 1: The Easy Way to Draw Your Room
The best part? You don’t need any drawing skills or technical experience. If you have a sense of style and a bit of creativity, you can create beautiful room designs in no time.
In this first lesson, I’ll show you step by step how to draw the basic structure of your room — walls, dimensions, doors, and more. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Getting Started
Go to Roomstyler.com and sign up (it’s free). Once you’re in, click the big green button to launch the Roomstyler drawing tool.
You’ll see a welcome screen. Choose “Start from scratch” to begin a new project.
Step 2: Understanding the Workspace
In the center is your main drawing area. At the top, you’ll see a small preview window that shows your room in 3D. You can click and drag on the canvas to move around and view your room from different angles.
On the right side, you’ll find ready-made room shapes. Simply click on one that’s close to your actual room and drag it onto the canvas.
Step 3: Adjusting Your Walls
Once the room shape is on the canvas, click any wall to see its dimensions. You can switch between meters and feet depending on your preference.
To change the wall length, just click and drag the end of the wall. Want to split one wall into two? Click the wall and select the Split option. You can then adjust each section separately.
If you want more control, use the Free-Form tool (the pencil icon in the top left). Click to start drawing your first wall, move your mouse, click again for the next wall, and keep going until you close the shape. Roomstyler will automatically add the floor for you.
Step 4: Setting Ceiling Height and Wall Thickness
Click on any wall, and the properties panel will appear on the left side. Here you can easily change:
- Ceiling height
- Wall thickness
You’ll see the changes instantly in the 3D preview.
Step 5: Adding Doors and Openings
To add doors or create openings between rooms, click the Build icon on the left toolbar. Then go to the Doors tab.
Choose the type of door you want, drag it onto any wall, and adjust its width and height from the properties panel. You can see the result right away in the preview window.
