Roomstyler Lesson 1: The Easy Way to Draw Your Room
Welcome to Roomstyler.com! I'm Nico, and I'm here to guide you through the process of drawing your own room using the Roomstyler platform. With Roomstyler, you don't need any special technical or drawing skills to create the interior design you desire. All you need is a sense of style and a little inspiration.
In this tutorial series, we will explore the Roomstyler drawing tool, and by the end, you'll have a good grasp of how to draw your room with walls, windows, doors, and more. Let's dive into lesson one!
Once you've signed up on Roomstyler.com, you can click the green button to start the Roomstyler tool. You'll be greeted with a welcome screen that gives you the option to start from scratch or load a design you've saved from a previous session. For now, let's begin with a new page.
In the middle of your drawing area, you'll find the camera, which allows you to preview your room. The preview will be displayed in a small screen above the camera. You can click and drag your canvas to navigate the space. On the side, you'll see a selection of default room shapes that you can choose from. Simply pick one and drag it into your drawing area.
For example, I'll select a room shape that resembles my own space. After dragging it onto the canvas, the preview of the room will appear. By clicking on a wall, you can see its dimensions. You can change the units to either meters or feet, and there are zoom in and out buttons for convenience.
Let's say I want to adjust the length of a wall. I can click and drag the wall to the desired length. If I want to split a wall into two sections, I can click on the wall and choose the split option. This will create two sections that can be adjusted individually. By hovering over the end point of a wall section, I can drag it to create an angled corner.
If you prefer a more free-form approach, Roomstyler allows you to draw your room wall by wall. In the top left corner, you'll find an icon for the free-form tool. With this tool, you can start drawing your room from any corner or point. Click and release to create the first wall, move your mouse, and click and release again to create the second wall. Continue until you have enclosed the area, and a flooring will automatically be created.
Once you've drawn your walls, you may want to set the ceiling height. By clicking on any wall, you can access the wall properties in the sidebar on the left. Here, you can adjust the height of the wall and see the changes reflected in the preview screen. You can also change the thickness of the walls to your preference.
To create an opening between two rooms, use the build icon located on the side. This icon provides access to various functions, including doors and windows. Click on the doors tab to see a list of door types. Choose the one that suits your needs, and drag it onto a wall. Adjust the height and width of the opening in the sidebar. You can see the opening appear in the preview, and maximize it for a closer look.
That's it for now in Lesson 1! In the next tutorial, we'll explore how to add windows, create a view to the outside, and even take a 3D photo of your room. Don't forget to subscribe to our channel for more helpful videos. Thank you for watching, and see you next time!
